Faculty

Keith L. Altman is the current cochair of the Electronic Discovery Litigation Group of AAJ. He works with attorneys to help them acquire data, turn that data into knowledge, and mange the knowledge. Mr. Altman has been instrumental in such multi-district litigation such as Fen-Phen, Rezulin, Baycol, and PPA, and has spoken at a number of national conferences on electronic discovery and litigation technology. Mr. Altman is associated with Finkelstein & Partners in Newburgh, New York.

Yvonne M. Flaherty concentrates her practice in the areas of antitrust, commercial litigation and products liability litigation groups. She is a member of the American Association for Justice and the Minnesota State, Hennepin County and Federal Bar associations. Ms. Flaherty is also extremely active in complex litigation involving pharmaceutical products. She also serves on various committees in MDL 1431, In re Baycol Litigation, and is chair of the MDL Learned Intermediary Committee. Ms. Flaherty currently serves on the American Association for Justice Board of Governors, as an officer in AAJ’s Section on Toxic and Environmental Torts, and as Second Vice Chair of the Women's Caucus. Her office is currently on the Plaintiffs Steering Committee for the Guidant MDL and serves as Liaison counsel for the Medtronic PSC. Ms. Flaherty is an attorney at Lockridge Grindal Nauen P.L.L.P. in Minneapolis, Minneapolis.

Keith M. Jensen handles a wide variety of cases including defective drug liability, personal injury, construction site accidents, products liability, environmental litigation, legal malpractice and class actions. Mr. Jensen has served as a speaker at educational seminars for other attorneys around the country on topics including trial strategy, product liability suits and class actions. Jensen, Belew & Gonzalez is located in Fort Worth, Texas.

Melissa R. Smith concentrates her practice on representing injured persons. Her practice also includes commercial litigation raising the full range of commercial claims including claims of breach of contract and fiduciary duty, fraud, and violation of anti-trust, securities and intellectual property law. Ms. Smith is board certified in personal injury trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She has served on many committees within the American Association for Justice, and currently sits on AAJ’s Board of Governors. She is also a former president of the Northeast Texas Trial Lawyers Association. Ms. Smith is the managing partner at Gilliam and Smith in Marshall, Texas.
