A Trust Fund Victims Can't Trust
Paul Parker’s story
Longview, Washington. Paul was diagnosed in December of 2004 with mesothelioma, a terminal cancer caused only by asbestos. In the ensuing year, his family would lose a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Paul was never adequately warned that the materials he was working with everyday would eventually claim his life.
Mr. Parker worked as a furnace operator and pipefitter at the Weyerhauser facility in Longview, Washington from 1966 until 2004. Paul worked with and around asbestos-containing products and asbestos-laden equipment, which he maintained. During the maintenance and repair of this equipment, Paul was exposed to considerable asbestos dust.
Paul succumbed to mesothelioma on December 30, 2005, and is survived by his loving wife, Linda, and children, Tess and Troy.
How would the asbestos bailout bill hurt Paul’s family?
The Parker case is pending in Superior Court of Washington in King County. Should the asbestos bill be enacted, Linda would be forced to start the claims process from the beginning under the asbestos trust fund.
