A Trust Fund Victims Can't Trust

Steven Lemberger’s story

Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Steven Lemberger was a hard worker - a machine operator - who rarely missed a day of work. He routinely put in fifty or sixty hours of work each week. For 13 years of his career he worked with asbestos at an iron mill in Wisconsin. He also worked with asbestos brakes.

Steve was diagnosed with mesothelioma on August 26, 2005. He died less than three months later on November 11, 2005 at the age of 55, leaving his widow, Collene, alone. Collene’s supports herself as a department manager for K-Mart. Her income decreased by two thirds when her husband passed away.

He and his wife Collene have one daughter, Liza.

How would the asbestos bailout bill hurt Steve’s family?

Mrs. Lemberger has a case pending in the Wisconsin in the Circuit Court of Milwaukee County. If the proposed trust fund passes, his widow would be forced to start her claim all over again, delaying compensation to a person already suffering from the loss of her husband.
