Washington, DC—C. Gibson Vance was announced today as the new president of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) at the organization’s annual convention. Vance will spearhead AAJ’s mission of making sure people have a fair chance to receive justice through the legal system, even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations.
“It is an honor to lead AAJ at a time when the importance of the civil justice system has never been more obvious,” said Vance. “As president, I will continue AAJ’s efforts to strengthen the civil justice system and ensure all Americans can get justice, even when taking on the most powerful interests.”
“As president-elect for the past year, Gibson has been a tireless advocate for AAJ and the civil justice system,” said outgoing president and managing partner at Kreindler & Kreindler LLP Anthony Tarricone. “He is absolutely prepared to take the reins as president of the association and advance our cause and mission.”
Vance has practiced law for over 17 years and is currently a shareholder with Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C. in Montgomery, Ala., specializing in personal injury litigation and consumer fraud cases. Vance has also served as president of Montgomery County Bar Association, Montgomery Trial Lawyers Association, the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation, and the Alabama Association for Justice.
Vance graduated from Troy State University (B.S.) and Jones School of Law (J.D.). He is married to Kate Vance and they have two children, Carter and Andrew.
In addition to Vance, AAJ’s new slate of officers includes President-Elect Gary M. Paul of Waters, Kraus & Paul in Los Angeles, Calif.; Vice-President Mary Alice McLarty of The McLarty Firm, P.C.; Secretary J. Burton LeBlanc of Baron and Budd, P.C. in Baton Rouge, La.; Treasurer Rhonda Hill Wilson of the Law Offices of Rhonda Hill Wilson, P.C. in Philadelphia, Pa.; and, Parliamentarian Larry A.
