Job Duties             

  • Direct and manage the continuing legal education programs for AAJ. Ensure that the programs are fully compliant with all regulatory standards. Conduct long-range planning, policy development, implementation, and evaluations of programs. 
  • Manage education department staff, relevant committees, and course advisors in the design, planning, budgeting, marketing, implementing and evaluating of CLE programs.
  • Work with marketing to target audiences and promote offerings, including identifying cross-marketing opportunities with other Association services and products.
  • Conduct needs assessment of members and assist with the development of new educational activities and products. Recruit speakers and faculty.
  • Create and manage department budget.
  • Evaluate requests for joint sponsorship and endorsement from external organizations. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with AAJ sections, committees, vendors and affiliates.  
  • Oversee the development and print production of program materials.
  • Manage content development to include traditional and e-learning, plus emerging technology such as podcasting.
  • Serve as liaison to National College of Advocacy Board of Trustees, AAJ Press Advisory Board, and other identified committees.   

Qualifications and Experience

  • BA degree required, J.D. preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience at a supervisory level, experience successfully supervising and coaching staff at various levels. 
  • Demonstrated experience in education program planning, execution and evaluation.
  • Must be a detail oriented leader and able to demonstrate innovation and initiative, good judgment, and manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment. 
  • Ability to operate strategically, identifying and leveraging opportunities for member education by developing and leading new programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral and written communications skills. 
  • Strong ability to plan, manage, and meet budget goals. 
  • Strong project management, curriculum development, and organizational skills. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to work effectively with association leaders and committees.
  • Ability to travel is required.
