Message from David M. Fish, Section Chair
The members of the Employment Rights Section proudly perform work on behalf of injured employees and work to improve the workplace for all.
Members represent victims of harassment and discrimination in all areas, including sex, race, national origin, religious, age, sexual orientation, and disability discrimination claims, as well as wage and hour actions.
One of the Section’s main goals is to increase to membership. With courts granting summary judgment at an alarmingly high rate, it is imperative that those practicing employment laws are well prepared and educated to help us shape case law favorable to the employees we represent. Anyone thinking of representing an employee should be part of our Section so they are equipped to aggressively and successfully pursue the goals of their clients and avoid creating law unfavorable to employees.
A further benefit of membership is the support that our members provide one another. Many of us either are sole practitioners or work in small firms. By reaching out to each other–whether it is through the list server, writings in the Newsletter or in Trial, attending convention meetings, or just picking up the phone for ideas and support, we strengthen our ability to zealously represent our clients and strengthen developing case law that protects individual rights.
We look forward to hearing from prospective new members.
