David R. Cohen, course advisor, concentrates his practice in nursing home negligence and abuse claims, elder abuse, and assisted living facility litigation. Mr. Cohen is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney. He is the chair of AAJ’s Nursing Home Litigation Group and is a former member of the Minority Concerns Committee of Mercer County Vicinage. Mr. Cohen served as faculty for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) on nursing home malpractice from 2002 through 2007 and lectured on this topic at the College of New Jersey for the National Business Institute (NBI). He has also lectured on attorney review of medical records for NBI, AAJ, New Jersey Association for Justice (NJAJ), and ICLE. David A. Couch, course advisor, concentrates his practice on cases involving nursing home neglect and abuse. Mr. Couch is a past chair of AAJ’s Nursing Home Litigation Group and a past member of the Board of Directors of the National Citizens Coalition for Nursing Home Reform (NCCNHR), an organization that advocates for quality nursing home care nationwide. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association. Anne Duvoisin has more than 25 years of trial experience in a wide variety of personal injury cases and now focuses primarily on nursing home litigation and reform. Ms. Edwards is past chair of AAJ’s Nursing Home Litigation Group and is a past president of the Corpus Christi Bar Association. She is co-founder of the Coastal Bend Unit of Texas Advocates for Nursing Home Residents. Ms. Edwards has testified before the House and Senate subcommittees since 1995 for legislation to improve and protect the lives of nursing home residents. Ms. Edwards has authored a chapter in a book on nursing home litigation and has spoken at many statewide and national CLE programs on nursing home litigation. She is a partner with Edwards & Associates in Corpus Christi, Texas.
David J. Hoey concentrates his practice in the areas of nursing home abuse and neglect, negligent assisted living facilities, and injuries to the elderly. Mr. Hoey is the author of “Prosecuting Nursing Home Cases in Massachusetts” (Lawyers Weekly), “Most Common Mistakes Attorneys Make in Prosecuting Nursing Home Cases” (AAJ Press/Thompson West), and is working with West Publishing on a nursing home litigation manual. Mr. Hoey speaks nationally on nursing home bankruptcy and Medicare/Medicaid issues, patient rights, and nursing home negligence. He is a past chair of AAJ’s Nursing Home Litigation Group and serves on the Board of Directors for NCCNHR. He was selected by his peers as a Rising Star and Super Lawyer in 2005.
