Senior pilots sue union over pension benefits received during United Airlines bankruptcy
The pilots alleged the union breached its duty of fair representation by discriminating against them. They claimed members of the union’s executive council—who were mostly junior pilots—used a pension benefits calculation more favorable to junior pilots to protect their interests and maintain their power within the union.
