The plaintiffs alleged that the bus driver failed to keep a proper lookout and yield to pedestrian traffic. They also asserted that the driver had violated company policies regarding the safe operation of the bus. The parties settled for about $1.43 million, paid by the city’s transit authority. Barrett v.
