AAJ Statement on the Domestic Fuels Protection Act

Don’t be fooled; this is Big Oil’s dream bill to avoid accountability

Washington, DC The following is a statement from American Association for Justice (AAJ) President Gary M. Paul in response to the “The Domestic Fuels Protection Act of 2012,” H.R. 4345:

“This is Big Oil’s dream bill to avoid accountability.  This bill grants industry-wide, corporate immunity for leaking underground tanks and defective fuels and fuel mixtures that may cause catastrophic health, environmental and property damage.  Corporate immunity undermines the incentive to produce safe products and leaves consumers at greater risk from injuries.”
