The Gas Drilling/Fracking Litigation Group assists lawyers litigating cases against companies that engage in unsafe drilling practices. As the United States tries to move towards greater energy independence, natural gas is being harvested at an increasing rate. Natural gas is trapped thousands of feet below ground within shale rock in various locations across the country. Retrieving the natural gas, which takes place between 2,000 and 12,000 feet below the surface, can cause methane gas and other harmful substances to enter the local water supply and its surrounding environment. Fluid associated with the Hydraulic Fracturing (Fracking) process can itself cause the same damage. As a result of the extraction process, people who live nearby are exposed to contaminated groundwater, hazardous chemicals, and decreased property values.

The Gas Drilling/Fracking Litigation Group member benefits include a Group Document Library, list server, and education programs.
