Staci Yandle, Women's Caucus Past Chair, won an important appellate victory in the State of Illinois. The Trial Court found that an arbitration clause in the contract did not preempt her client’s right to a jury trial as the contract violated public policy as enunciated in the Illinois Elder Abuse Statute. The Illinois 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the trial court and the State Supreme Court denied petition for appeal. This is a major victory for all elder abuse victims in Illinois. Kudos Staci! |
