About the Social Security Disability Law Section

This Section promotes the objectives of AAJ within the field of Social Security disability law, and to that end to research, study, and thereafter educate the membership with respect to available legal remedies; to protect the rights of claimants seeking disability insurance benefits, supplemental security income, and attendant Medicare and Medicaid coverage before the Social Security Administration; to promote and support legislation, regulation, and agency policy designed to protect claimants' rights to disability compensation and to oppose legislation which adversely affects those rights; and to present programs of continuing legal education in the area of Social Security disability law.

Legislative Issues

Joining this Section ensures that your area of specialty has a stronger voice within AAJ on legislative and other important issues. Please bring important cases and proposed legislation and regulations to that attention of the Section Chair.

Directory

AAJ now offers an e-Directory CD featuring up-to-date Section membership information. Once downloaded to your computer, the online directory serves as a useful networking tool and encourages increased communication among colleagues. If you have not provided AAJ with a list of your practice specialties, please do so now so that they may be included in the next directory. Just e-mail your specialties (as well as address updates) to sections@justice.org or call 800.424.2727.

The Section publishes regular newsletters, which contain information to keep Section members abreast of current issues. The Best of Section Newsletters 2006 provides online access to a compilation of more than 30 articles from all 18 AAJ Sections.
