Derek T. Braslow has devoted his legal career to fighting on behalf of his injured clients against drug companies, health institutions, and insurance companies. Derek has been an advocate for children, adolescents, and adults who have become suicidal allegedly as a result of ingesting psychotropic medication. He has been a featured speaker on clinical trials, bioethics and pharmaceutical litigation, and policy at conferences including those sponsored by the American Bar Association and the International Center for the Study of Psychiatry and Psychology. Mr. Braslow has testified before the FDA’s Psychopharmacologic Drug Advisory Committee regarding the risk of suicide and antidepressants, and has been counsel to numerous clients who have testified before the FDA’s Subcommittees regarding the deadly risks of ADHD drugs and antidepressants for children and adolescents. Mr. Braslow is a founding partner of Pogust Braslow & Millrood LLC in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
William B. Curtis concentrates his practice in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical, insurance, bad faith, and medical negligence litigation. He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Curtis is a member of AAJ’s National College of Advocacy (NCA) Board of Trustees, serves on the AAJ Sections and Litigation Group Coordinating Committee, is a Fellowship Member, and sits on the Board of Directors of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association. He is a partner with the firm Miller, Curtis & Weisbrod, LLP in Dallas, Texas.
Yvonne M. Flaherty concentrates her practice on mass tort, pharmaceutical/medical device, anti-trust, and consumer fraud litigation. She is a frequent lecturer on a variety of litigation topics, including mass torts, electronic discovery, and the learned intermediary doctrine. Ms. Flaherty currently serves on AAJ’s Board of Governors, is chair of the Women’s Caucus, second vice-chair of the Section on Toxic, Environmental, and Pharmaceutical Torts (STEP), and cochair of the Electronic Discovery Litigation Group. Ms. Flaherty is a partner with the firm Lockridge, Grindal, Nauen, PLLP in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Robert K. Jenner has 23 years experience representing injured consumers against the manufacturers of dangerous pharmaceutical drugs and defective medical devices. In addition, Mr. Jenner and his firm represent victims of birth trauma, medical negligence, and defective consumer products. He is a past chair of AAJ’s Section on Toxic, Environmental and Pharmaceutical Torts (STEP) and has chaired numerous pharmaceutical drug litigation groups. Mr. Jenner has been honored by his peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America, the Maryland Superlawyers, and the International Society of Barristers. He is a past president of the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the AAJ’s Board of Governors. Mr. Jenner is a partner in the firm Janet, Jenner & Suggs, LLC in Baltimore, Maryland.
Julie Braman Kane practices in the areas of class action litigation, products liability, and personal injury. She is a former cochair of the AAJ’s National College of Advocacy Board of Trustees. Ms. Kane has previously served as chair of both AAJ Products Liability Section and Women’s Caucus. A frequent lecturer throughout the United States and Canada, Ms. Kane also serves as an officer of the Miami-Dade Florida Association of Women Lawyers, and sits on the Board of Directors of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, where she is a past Chair of both the Young Lawyers Division and the Women’s Caucus. Ms. Kane is a partner at Colson Hicks Eidson in Coral Gables, Florida.
Steven R. Maher concentrates his practice in personal injury litigation involving medical negligence, wrongful death, product liability, dangerous drugs and medical devices, automobile negligence, patent infringement, class actions and antitrust litigation. He is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbel. He was named by Law & Politics as one of the top 5% of lawyers in the State of Florida and featured in Florida Super Lawyer Magazine from 2007 through 2009. He is also rated as “Superb” by AVVO.com. Mr. Maher maintains a national practice and lectures throughout the United States on personal injury law and trial advocacy. Mr. Maher is a partner with The Maher Law Firm, P.A. in Winter Park, Florida.
Sol H. Weiss concentrates his practice in civil litigation including class actions and pharmaceutical cases, medical and other professional negligence, securities litigation and products liability litigation. Mr. Weiss has served in various positions and as a member of the Board for the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. He is the current president of the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has lectured for many professional groups including the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, Mealey’s, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, and private industry on topics such as class actions, pharmaceutical liability, civil litigation issues, trial skills and technology in the courtroom. He is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia Bar Associations and the Board of Consultors of the Villanova University School of Law. Mr. Weiss is a shareholder of Anapol, Schwartz, Weiss, Cohan, Feldman & Smalley, P.C. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
A. Daniel Woska has represented plaintiffs and defendants for 30 years in various federal and state courts, private arbitrations and hundreds of mediations. Mr. Woska is a long time member of the Christian Legal Society, Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association, Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association, and Oklahoma County Bar Association. He also serves as a chair on numerous committees for the Oklahoma Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is a current cochair of the AAJ’s Business Torts Section and has written and presented papers on a variety of legal topics for legal organizations and affiliated CLE providers. Mr. Woska is a founding partner of the law firm A.D. Woska & Associates, P.C. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
