Faculty

Amy R. Bach has been a policyholder advocate since 1984. She has extensive experience litigating bad faith and coverage suits on behalf of insured individuals and businesses and is a member of the AAJ Insurance Law Section and the Bad Faith Litigation Group. In 1991, Ms. Bach co-founded a not-for-profit organization called United Policyholders that is dedicated to advancing the interests of insurance consumers. She currently oversees the organization's operations (Amicus Project, Post-Disaster Claim Aid, Publications) and serves as its primary spokesperson. Ms. Bach has received awards from the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California, the Proposition 103 Implementation Project, and the Consumer Attorneys of California. She has authored and contributed to numerous consumer-oriented publications on insurance matters. She has served as a consultant on insurance to a California State Senate Judiciary Subcommittee and as counsel to a special master overseeing reforms at the California Department of Insurance. The Law Offices of Amy R. Bach are located in Mill Valley, California.

Timothy W. Bouch practices in the areas of environmental law, commercial law and corporate litigation. Mr. Bouch has an active national trial practice, and is a frequent speaker on ethics and trial practice issues. He is the past Chair of the ABA/Litigation Section Environmental Litigation Committee, past Chair of the ABA/Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section Toxic & Hazardous Substances Committee, and former member of the ABA Standing Committee on Professional Discipline. He is a member of the Section Council of the Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association, the ABA House of Delegates, and the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility Publications Board. Currently he is Chair of the South Carolina Supreme Court Commission on the Rules of Professional Conduct. Mr. Bouch was elected Fellow of the American Bar Foundation in 2002, a member of the American Law Institute, AAJ, and is included in the publication The Best Lawyers in America. (Woodward/White pub). Mr. Bouch is a partner in the law firm of Leath, Bouch & Crawford, L.L.P. in Charleston, South Carolina.

Lee S. Harris is a trial lawyer with experience in insurance, personal injury and construction defect cases. Mr. Harris is the current chair of AAJ's Bad Faith Litigation Group. He has authored articles and lectured on insurance coverage, jury selection, personal injury, property damage and business litigation. He has served as a member of the faculty of the Stanford Law School Trial Advocacy Skills Program, Hastings College of Advocacy and the University of San Francisco School of Law Intensive Advocacy Program. Mr. Harris is a past president of the University of San Francisco School of Law Alumni Association, a past chair of AAJ's Insurance Law Section, and a past president of the City of Alameda Planning Board. Mr. Harris is a partner at Goldstein Gellman Melbostad Gibson & Harris, LLP in San Francisco, CA.

Joseph N. Kravec, Jr. is the current Chair of AAJ's Insurance Law Section. He practices in the fields of consumer and commercial litigation, including insurance, securities and antitrust law, as well as personal tort and complex products liability litigation. Mr. Kravec is also a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is actively involved in his firm's class action practice and has participated in numerous class actions. Mr. Kravec practices with Specter Specter Evans & Manogue, P.C. in Pittsburgh, PA.
