The 2008 Alia Herrera Memorial Scholarship

The 2008 Alia Herrera Memorial Scholarship, in the amount of $3,000, is open to law students who are entering their second or third year of law school, or having the equivalent of one year to complete. The winning applicant MUST be able to commit to attend AAJ's 2008 Annual Convention in Philadephia, Pennsylvania, July 12-16.

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS ARE:

1. Law students who are attending law schools in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area

Or:

2. Law students who are student members of the law student section of AAJ

Or:

3. Law students who are children of AAJ members.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS SHOULD INCLUDE:

1. Cover letter

2. Resume

3. Transcript

4. Letter of recommendation from a law professor or the Dean of the law school.

5. A 500 word essay on the following topic:

“ Damage Caps": Limiting damage awards in Civil cases by State and/ or Federal Statutes, compared to Juries making damage awards, with judicial review.
