Despite Voters’ Call for Change, Bush Resorts to Same Old Tired Rhetoric
Bush Attacks Civil Justice System for Fourth Straight State of the Union Address

Tuesday, January 23, 2007 (Washington, DC)—American Association for Justice CEO Jon Haber issued the following statement tonight in response to Bush's attack on the civil justice system and call for "medical liability reform.”

"In his last four State of the Union addresses, Bush has offered up his base of corporate special interests the same red meat – attack the civil justice system to further their cause of eliminating the rights of Americans to hold wrongdoers accountable and boost corporate bottom lines.

"While voters in the 2006 elections resoundingly rejected Bush's failed policies, once again, he is misleading the American people and misunderstanding the facts.

“The American people want to end the attacks and misinformation Bush and his big-money campaign contributors have used to further stack the deck against the American people in favor of insurance industry interests.

“It's time for Bush to put the interests of the American people ahead of the corporate special interests.”
