AAJ Praises House Passage of FAIR Act to End Forced Arbitration

March 17,2022

Washington, DC —The following is a statement from American Association for Justice CEO Linda Lipsen on the House of Representatives passage of H.R. 963, the Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal (FAIR) Act:

We applaud the House of Representatives for passing this monumental, bipartisan legislation to eliminate forced arbitration and level the legal playing field. Corporations have been able to hide behind forced arbitration clauses buried in fine print to escape accountability when they commit misconduct. This bill restores the rights of consumers, workers and patients to seek justice in public when they are harmed.”

Earlier this week, AAJ hosted a press conference featuring Coach Brian Flores of the NFL, who is fighting to avoid forced arbitration in his racial discrimination case against the NFL and several teams. And last month, President Biden signed into law a bipartisan bill prohibiting the use of forced arbitration in cases of sexual harassment and sexual assault.
