Promote Accountability & Safety

Our country is safer today because Americans stood up to wrongdoers and powerful corporations and held them accountable in court. The American Association for Justice and our members are dedicated to promoting legal accountability and safety. This is more important now than ever because the drug and oil industries, big insurance companies, Wall Street banks, and other large corporations dominate our political process – we cannot depend on the political system alone to hold corporations accountable.

When corporations and their CEOs act irresponsibly by delaying or refusing to pay fair and just insurance claims, producing unsafe products, endangering patients, polluting our environment, or swindling their employees and shareholders, the last resort for Americans to hold them accountable is in our courts. Legal accountability through our civil justice system not only provides Americans with access to justice when they have been harmed, but also provides a key incentive for corporations to act responsibly and prioritize safety from the start. We work to make sure any person who is injured by the misconduct and negligence of others can get justice in the courtroom, even when taking on the most powerful interests.

Because of the civil justice system, our cars are safer, the environment is cleaner, and medicine is safer.
