AAJ Applauds Enactment of TSCA Reform

June 22,2016

Washington, DC— The following is a statement from American Association for Justice CEO Linda Lipsen on President Barack Obama today signing the “Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act” [H.R. 2576] into law, which reforms the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) of 1976.

“The American Association for Justice applauds the enactment of the “Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act,” which will better protect Americans from dangerous chemicals that pose significant and often deadly risks to human health and the environment. We commend the efforts of members of both the House and Senate who have worked tirelessly to reach a compromise that significantly improves our broken federal chemical regulatory system, allows states to act to protect their citizens from dangerous toxic chemicals, and ensures that Americans can hold corporations accountable when their products cause harm.”
