AAJ’s Flagship Magazine Recognized for Publication Excellence
This marks the second time in 2016 that Trial has received awards
June 30,2016Washington, D.C. – Trial magazine—the flagship publication of the American Association for Justice—continues to be recognized for its excellence in writing and design, recently winning an unprecedented three Apex Awards of Excellence from Communications Concepts, Inc., which provides consulting services and reports on business writing and communications. The awards come just months after Trial received a gold EXCEL Award for editorial excellence from Association Media & Publishing.
Trial received two APEX Awards for writing and one for design. In its July 2015 issue, the magazine unveiled a new design of “Justice in Motion,” a two-to-three page section that highlights the work of AAJ’s communications, education, and state affairs departments. The redesign modernized this section, adding infographics, a resources box, a map of upcoming AAJ Education programs, and other visual elements.
“We prioritized this redesign to continue to deliver relevant content for our readers in a compelling and modern way,” said Jennifer Adams, editor in chief of Trial. “We’ve received very positive feedback and are extremely proud to have our work recognized with this APEX Award.”
The first writing award was for Excellence in News Writing, awarded for an article published June 4, 2015, in Trial News, the online supplement to the magazine. Titled, “Deadly Amtrak Derailment Leads to Litigation,” it was written by Trial managing editor Alyssa Lambert. The second writing award, in the category of Writing – Sidebars, was for a story that appeared in the November 2015 issue of Trial. The article highlighted Safe Sober Prom Night program in North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad region.
“AAJ and its members are dedicated to serving their clients and their community, and we are proud that Trial magazine and its writers and editors are telling these stories,” said Linda Lipsen, CEO of AAJ. “We are honored to receive these awards and inspired to continue producing smart, insightful, and relevant content in Trial that we hope our readers will value and enjoy.”
