Settlement for baby powder user who developed mesothelioma
August/September 2021Wendy Hirshberg used talc products, including Johnson’s Baby Powder and Shower to Shower, for 50 years. Additionally, talc-containing Avon products were used around her in her home. At age 57, she was diagnosed as having mesothelioma. She has undergone treatment including chemotherapy, radiation, and 11 surgeries and is now participating in a clinical trial. An educator, she is no longer able to work. Her past medical expenses totaled approximately $550,000.
Hirshberg and her husband sued Johnson & Johnson, alleging negligence, failure to warn, and manufacturing defect.
The parties settled for an undisclosed amount.
