Message from Susan M. Cremer, Section ChairHope to See You in San Fran!
Summer has arrived. The AAJ Annual Convention is just around the corner, in the beautiful and charming city of San Francisco. We hope to see many of our Section members at the joint Section and Litigation Group meeting, especially our new members this year! By last report, we had one of the highest increases in number of new members this year of any of the numerous AAJ Sections!
The Federal Tort Liability and Military Advocacy Section and the Federal Tort Litigation Group will hold a joint meeting on Monday, July 27, 2009, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Hilton San Francisco, 4th floor, Union Square Room 13. The meeting will cover the following topics:
1. Roundtable Discussion: Hot Topics
a. Feres Legislation: Status report by Sue Steinman, AAJ Director of Policy Public Affairs
b. Feres Litigation: Status report by members of the Archuleta Firm as well as other AAJ members with pending cases
c. 2009 FTCA/MCA Judgments and Settlements: Trends and practice tips/open discussion by participants
2. Bring Your Files Discussion—moderated by current and past Section Officers, this portion of the meeting is designed for any participant who wishes to vet a current case or discuss an issue of concern.
3. Administrative Matters

We look forward to your participation at this informative session. If you are interested in running for a Section office, please contact me at 404-523-5000 by e-mail at scremer@mathisfirm.com.
Finally, don’t forget to attend the Third Annual Section Connection Reception on Monday, July 27, 2009, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The Reception is a great opportunity to meet and mingle with STEP Section members as well as members from all 18 AAJ Sections. The Reception features light hors d’oeuvres and an open bar.
I look forward to seeing you in San Francisco.
