New Lawyers Division Awards 

Do you know an individual or individuals who have made significant contributions to the NLD, the trial law bar, and consumers? If you do, you can help them get the recognition they deserve!

2009 NLD Award Nominations

The New Lawyers Division will host an awards reception during the annual convention in San Diego, CA, to recognize the effort of outstanding individuals. Nominate an outstanding attorney by April 10, 2009 for the F. Scott Baldwin Award and/or the Joe Tonahill Award. 

  • The F. Scott Baldwin Award : Honors an individual who has made significant contributions to the NLD and has attained one or more outstanding trial verdicts.
  • The Joe Tonahill Award : Awarded for recognition of outstanding and dedicated service to and support of consumers and the trial bar.

F. Scott Baldwin Award

The F. Scott Bldwin Award was established to honor and recognize F. Scott Baldwin of Marshall, Texas, a world-renowned trial lawyer, whose efforts have produced outstanding damage awards for injured victims and their families.  The F. Scott Baldwin Award is presened in recognition of the legendar degree of excellence and compassion that Scott Baldwin has brought to the profession and the significant time he has invested in training, preparing and encouraging lawyers to the profession of trial law.  F. Nomination

The F. Scott Baldwin Award honors an individual who has made a significant contribution to the New Lawyers Division and who has attained one or more outstanding trial verdicts.

Nominations will be judged on the following criteria:

  1. Candidate must be an AAJ Regular, Sustaining, Life, or President's Club member for at least one year
  2. Candidate must be nominated by an AAJ member in good standing
  3. Candidate has made significant contribution to the New Lawyers Division
  4. Candidate has attained one or more outstanding trial verdicts

Joe Tonahill Award

The Joe Tonahill Award was established to honor the true spirit of Joe Tonahill, a highly dignified and ethical defender of the civil justice system; a peerless stalwart of the modern trial bar; an exemplary trial lawyer; a dedicated leader; a passionate motivator of lawyers new to the profession of trial law; and one who through hsi own selfless deeds and inspirations has created a legacy for generations to follow.
