While retaining the best of what made AAJ great over the past 60 years, we have undergone important and significant changes to better serve our members--and to protect the civil justice system from the rentless attacks by powerful special interests. A major challenge has been reframing the debate about the civil justice system and putting our opponents on the defensive.
With the help of Leaders Forum contributions, AAJ has: created a rapid-response communications team to take on powerful corporate interest groups and aggressively counter opposition assaults on the civil justice system; proactively generated news stories that promote the civil justice system at the national, state and local level; developed relationships with reporters to educate them on key issues; conducted numerous polls and message briefings to refine our narrative; conducted primary research and created individual issue campaign targeting the needs of the association.
