AAJ's Amicus Curiae program presents the position of the plaintiffs' bar directly to the courts through amicus briefs filed in state supreme courts, federal appellate courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court. These cases of overriding importance to injury victims and to the trial bar involve such issues as:
- Punitive damages
- Caps on damages
- Expansion/contraction of injured victims' legal rights
- Federal preemption of state tort remedies
This program is administered for AAJ by the Center for Constitutional Litigation, P.C. Most briefs are prepared by CCL, while others are written by AAJ members who possess special expertise.
