Message from Adele P. Kimmel, Section ChairDear Section Members:

I am honored to serve as Chair of the Civil Rights Section this year and look forward to meeting and working with you, whether you are long-time members or have recently joined us.

The Civil Rights Section advances and protects a broad range of civil rights, both statutory and constitutional, and works to prevent the erosion of fundamental civil rights.  The Section focuses on trial strategies aimed toward maximizing the recovery for victims of civil rights violations, recent developments in constitutional law bearing on civil rights issues, governmental misconduct litigation under Section 1983 and Bivens, and cutting-edge areas of civil rights litigation.

Over the next year, I would like to see our Section expand its role as a protector of civil rights by helping to create and train a larger community of trial lawyers who both understand and can tackle the challenges of a civil rights practice.  Working together, I am confident that we can achieve this goal!
