Congratulations to
Linda Whipple,
2009 Paralegal of the Year!

Linda Whipple, a paralegal at the law firm of Spohrer & Dodd, in Jacksonville, Florida is the winner of the 2009 American Association for Justice (AAJ) Paralegal of the Year Award.  The award, sponsored by Thomson Reuters, honors an AAJ paralegal affiliate who demonstrates commitment to the profession and dedication to AAJ’s mission. Ms. Whipple was recognized by her fellow paralegal affiliate members at AAJ’s 2009 Annual Convention in San Francisco, California, July 27, 2009.

A Paralegal Affiliate member with AAJ since 2002, Ms. Whipple has been a plaintiff paralegal at the firm of Spohrer & Dodd for the past ten years. Her career began in 1974 working for plaintiff attorneys. Most of her career has been involved in personal injury and complex civil litigation. She has worked for sole practioners, large international law firms, and small to medium plaintiff firms. She received her paralegal certificate from the University of North Florida in 2000. She is active in her local paralegal association (NEFPA) and served as their First Vice-President in 2003-2004. She obtained the voluntary designation of Florida Registered Paralegal in March 2008, and also served on the Paralegal Advisory Board for continuing education at the University of North Florida’s legal Studies Institute, as well as teaching courses in the Legal Studies program. Ms. Whipple has spoken at various seminars and conducted several trial presentations for attorneys and paralegals.

Attorney Robert F. Spohrer, who nominated Ms. Whipple for the award, said:  “Linda believes that working for those who are injured or less fortunate is the ultimate profession for job satisfaction. She works tirelessly for my clients […] One of her strengths is her ability to relate empathically with the clients throughout the litigation process.” Ms. Whipple is devoted to her clients, even when faced with a difficult case: “Bob’s cases are some of the most difficult cases I’ve ever worked on […] He isn’t afraid to take on cases that other firms have refused. I welcome those challenges.”
