Events & Announcements

We invite you to become involved in the New Lawyer Division (NLD). Through the NLD, you will find a place to help you connect with other plaintiff attorneys, grow your practice, and serve in the Association.

NLD Membership Drives
Help us build a stronger AAJ by participating in our upcoming NLD Membership Drive and get to know your fellow NLD colleagues. Contact Jennifer Rafter, Caucus Group Manager, at or (202) 684-9585 to participate or with any questions.

Supreme Court Swearing-In Ceremony
The NLD hosted a group of AAJ New Lawyers sworn into the United States Supreme Court on January 9, 2012. This was an amazing opportunity to appear in front of the "Big 9" and gain admission to the US Supreme Court. The next Supreme Court Swearing-in Ceremony will be held January 22, 2014.  Space is limited to 12 NLD members!  For more information or to RSVP, please contact Jennifer Rafter, Caucus Group Manager, at or (202) 684-9585.

NLD Public Service Project
The NLD Public Service Committee focuses on civic-oriented projects and is also responsible for the substantive content information, articles, and photographs on public service projects involving new lawyers around the country for inclusion on the Web site and in the NLD newsletter, The Sidebar.

Take a look at the NLD's past Habitat for Humanity projects.

If you would like to be a part of the Public Service Project Committee, please contact the Chair, Donna MacKenzie at

NLD Annual Document Drive
The Document Library is one of the greatest assets the NLD offers AAJ New Lawyers. It is full of pleadings, discovery requests, briefs, motions, deposition outlines, etc. - and it is FREE OF CHARGE to NLD members! We are asking NLD members to donate and help us reach the goal of 200 documents.
