2009 Alia Herrera Scholarship

The 2009 Alia Herrera Memorial Scholarship, in the amount of $3,000, is open to law students who are entering their
second or third year of law school, or having the equivalent of one year to complete. The winning applicant MUST be able
to commit to attend AAJ's 2009 Annual Convention in San Francisco, CA, July 25-29, 2009.

Eligible Applicants are:

• Law students entering their second or third year of law school
• Law students who are attending law schools in the California area 
• Law students who are student members of the law student section of AAJ 
• Law students who are children of AAJ members.

Scholarship Applications Should Include:

• Cover letter
• Resume
• Transcript
• Letter of recommendation from a law professor or the Dean of the law school
• A 500 word essay on the following topic: 

"What impact does preemption have on the access to justice and
the ability of citizens to receive full and fair compensation
through trial by jury?"

Deadline: Postmarked or e-mailed on or before June 1, 2009
