2011 Alia Herrera Scholarship

The 2011 Alia Herrera Memorial Scholarship, in the amount of $3,000, is open to law students who are entering their second or third year of law school, or have the equivalent of one year to complete. The winning applicant is invited to attend the AAJ Annual Convention, at their expense, held in New York City this summer.

1. Eligible applicants are:
•  Law students who are attending law schools in the New York City area, OR  
•  Law students who are student members of the law school student section of AAJ, OR
•  Law students who are children of AAJ members

2. Scholarship applications should include all of the following:
•  Cover letter
•  Resume
•  Transcript
•  Letter of recommendation from a law professor or the Dean of the law school
•  500-word essay on the following:

How does mandatory arbitration impact the civil justice system?

3. Deadline: Postmarked or e-mailed on or before June 6, 2011.
