Congratulations to 2007 Paralegal of the Year Natalie Andrus
Natalie Andrus, a senior paralegal at the law firm of Grysen & Associates, in Spring Lake, Michigan, is the winner of the 2007 AAJ Paralegal of the Year Award. The award, sponsored by Thomson West, honors an AAJ paralegal affiliate who demonstrates commitment to the profession and dedication to AAJ’s mission. Ms. Andrus was nominated by Bernard E. Grysen from the law firm of Grysen & Associates.
Natalie has been a paralegal affiliate member of AAJ for the past four years. She attends at least one AAJ seminar each year, and has also attended AAJ Case Workshops to help develop case and trial themes. Natalie became interested in the law during high school when she worked part time in a law office. Her interest lead to a twenty year career as a legal assistant, paralegal and facility member in paralegal studies at Davenport University in Grand Rapids. For the past nine years, Natalie has worked as the senior paralegal in the firm of Grysen & Associates working tirelessly on plaintiff medical malpractice cases. As a senior paralegal, Natalie directs the work of other paralegals, manages active cases, drafts motions, trial briefs, and appellate briefs. With all her demands, Natalie still found time to obtain a Masters in Legal Studies from Eastern Michigan University in 2004.
Natalie has truly demonstrated her dedication to the clients she works for. Whether the case is large or small, she works with equal diligence and determination. She will personally visit clients in their homes at the start of each case, go through a 2 week trial with little or no sleep, or stay in touch with the client after representation is complete so that they know she is still here. Attorney Bernard E. Grysen said: “Words cannot describe her dedication to our clients.”
Along with all her accomplishments, Natalie also teaches and mentors paralegal students, volunteers each week in her younger son’s school, and teaches religious studies in her local church.
Natalie is truly deserving of this award and we are pleased to have her as our 2007 AAJ Paralegal of the Year recipient.
