Dov Apfel is a partner with Janet, Jenner & Suggs, LLC, located in Baltimore, Maryland.  He concentrates his practice on birth traumas that resulted in cerebral palsy and obstetrical malpractice claims for children with neurological and intellectual disabilities.  He is a recipient of the Dan Cullan Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Association for Justice.  Mr. Apfel is a frequent lecturer and has been invited to teach judges, doctors, nurses, and lawyers how to evaluate obstetrical cases throughout the United States.  He has authored two major law review articles concerning how to prove that cerebral palsy occurred during labor and delivery.  He is a member of AAJ’s Leaders Forum, the Birth Trauma Litigation Group, and Professional Negligence Section. 

Paul A. Casi, II, of Louisville KY, concentrates his practice in medical negligence, product liability, and trucking cases, and in cases involving catastrophic personal injuries.  He is immediate past chair of AAJ’s Professional Negligence Section, immediate past cochair of the AAJ’s Birth Trauma Litigation Group, and an active member of AAJ’s Medical Negligence Information Exchange, Interstate Trucking Litigation Group, Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group, and Railroad/Highway Crossing & Derailment Litigation Groups, Kentucky Justice Association (Vice President), and Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.  He is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell, is listed in Best Lawyers in America, and is a member of Million Dollar Advocates Forum.  He is a frequent lecturer on topics such as medical negligence, hospital liability, birth injury cases, accident reconstruction, and trucking litigation.  

John A. Lancione is the managing partner of Lancione & Lancione, PLL located in Cleveland, Ohio.  Mr. Lancione concentrates his practice in medical negligence, birth injuries, wrongful death, and personal injuries.  He is a past president of the Ohio Association for Justice, where he also served on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee.  Mr. Lancione is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been named a Super Lawyer from 2004 -2013.  Mr. Lancione is a past chair of AAJ’s Birth Trauma Litigation Group and newsletter editor of AAJ’s Professional Negligence Section.  He is a member of AAJ’s Leaders Forum. 

Heidi Shinn is a registered Labor and Delivery nurse at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.  Ms. Shinn is certified in both Inpatient Obstetrics and Electronic Fetal Monitoring.  She is also an AWHONN EFM designated instructor who will present in detail both basic and advanced fetal monitoring.

Charles J. Zauzig, III, course advisor, concentrates his practice in personal injury, medical negligence, and products liability.  He is the president of Nichols Zauzig Sandler P.C. and manager of the Zauzig Trial Group.  Mr. Zauzig was nominated by his peers as one of the Best Lawyers in America, serves on AAJ’s Board of Governors, and is a former president of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (VTLA).  He is an avid student and teacher of critical thinking as it applies to the strategies of case development and communication to juries, and teaches nationwide.  Mr. Zauzig is a member of AAJ’s Leaders Forum.  Nichols Zauzig Sandler P.C. is located in Woodbridge, Virginia.
