In Memoriam: Turner W. Branch, 1938-2016

AAJ remembers the life and service of Turner W. Branch, an AAJ member for more than 40 years, who died August 4, following a lengthy illness.

Turner celebrated his 50th year in practice as a plaintiff trial lawyer last November. He is remembered for, among other efforts, his work saving New Mexico from tort reform when he was a legislator. As a member of AAJ Turner was active in Leaders Forum, was a President’s Club Member and PAC contributor, and was a speaker for AAJ CLE programs. He also served as a trustee on AAJ’s National College of Advocacy.

Commemorating Law Day Through Community Service

Washington, DC — The American Association for Justice (AAJ,) in conjunction with its Trial Lawyers Care (TLC) initiative, is highlighting and encouraging community service this spring as a way to commemorate Law Day. AAJ staff and trial attorneys across the country will serve their communities through volunteer and charitable activities that benefit the public and help people in need.

In Memoriam: Sheldon Schlesinger, 1930-2015

Sheldon J. Schlesinger, an AAJ member who practiced for more than 60 years in Florida, died December 2, 2015, surrounded by his family and members of his law firm.

Case Framing

Mark Mandell demonstrates how to use his three-part method to frame a case and obtain just outcomes for clients.  He teaches plaintiff attorneys how to find the fundamental truth that defines the case, the vital issues the jury “just can’t get over,” and how to echo those issues throughout trial.
