EPA Proposes Ban of Chrysotile Asbestos

April 05,2022

Washington, DC — The following is a statement from American Association for Justice CEO Linda Lipsen on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed rule to prohibit the ongoing uses of chrysotile asbestos:

“While we wish action were taken decades ago, today’s EPA proposal is a significant first step towards ridding our nation of asbestos. Since this proposal only addresses chrysotile and not other, less commonly used forms of asbestos, we hope future action will bring about a complete and total ban on all the types of asbestos fibers that harm human health.”
