Faulty fuel, steering systems

September 10, 2024

Several women from a group home were traveling along an interstate in a 2002 Dodge Ram. The van’s driver allegedly lost control, causing the vehicle to roll onto its side and burst into flames. Seven people died in the crash, and nine others were injured.

Suit against an undisclosed defendant alleged that the van was poorly maintained and prone to tipping over. The plaintiffs also alleged that the van’s steering system was faulty and that its fuel system allowed gas and gas vapors to ignite, which led to burn injuries for the van’s occupants.

The parties settled for $162 million.
