Negligent interpretation of transabdominal ultrasound

September/October 2023

Olga Agramonte underwent a transabdominal ultrasound during her pregnancy. The ultrasound report, allegedly signed by maternal-fetal medicine specialist Orli Langer Most, reported a normal length cervix. Approximately five weeks later, Agramonte experienced premature labor and delivered her daughter the next day. Now 10, the child allegedly has lifelong special needs.

Agramonte, individually and on her daughter’s behalf, and the child’s father, sued Langer Most and Trinitas Physician Practice, LLC, alleging negligent performance and interpretation of the ultrasound, which, the plaintiffs asserted, indicated a shortened cervix.

The parties settled for more than $1.97 million.
