Failure to reposition resident
March 26, 2024Randolph Mack, 63, was admitted to Stella Maris after suffering a stroke. Mack, whose mobility was limited, developed a Stage III sacral wound, which led to a paraspinal abscess and severe sepsis. He died approximately six months after his admission and is survived by his wife and adult children.
Mack’s estate sued Stella Maris, Inc., alleging failure to adequately turn and reposition Mack.
The jury awarded over $9.04 million.
