Failure to properly diagnose, manage aortic dissection

March/April 2024

Michael Brant, 45, allegedly went to a hospital ER and reported troubling symptoms. He was subsequently discharged and died the next day of a ruptured aortic dissection. He is survived by his four children, one of whom was a minor.

Brant’s estate sued an ER physician and hospital, alleging failure to properly diagnose and treat the dissection.

The parties settled for $1 million.
