Trial Magazine
Editor's Note
Hearing From You
January 2018Last summer, Trial conducted a reader survey, and it was gratifying to see your responses—readers highly value the magazine and the new content we’ve introduced in the past few years. But your answers to our open-ended question—“What would make Trial more valuable to you?”—gave us ideas to make the magazine even better. Based on your responses, you’ll see more “top tips” articles focusing on information that can be put into practice right away, as well as pieces targeted to newer lawyers on topics such as interview advice, legal writing, and email tips.
We also learned about your favorite sections of Trial. More than half of readers said Verdicts & Settlements is among their top three favorite departments. You may have noticed we expanded that section of the magazine, and we will be revamping others this year. Other favorites included The Brief, Good Counsel, and Supreme Court Review.
Our 2018 Trial themes will focus on practice-specific areas, including some you haven’t seen in a while—environmental hazards (April) and protecting those who serve (June). We’ll also have themes dedicated to the well-rounded lawyer (March), with articles on topics that can be easily forgotten in a whirlwind law practice, and pretrial skills (August). And we’ll be incorporating your feedback into our 2019 themes as well.
To everyone who answered the survey, thank you—your thoughts help us shape future content. If you didn’t get a chance to take the survey and want to provide feedback, please email trial@justice.org.
