“He didn’t have a hands-free device fitted to the horse.”

New South Wales, Australia, Magistrate Judge David Day in a hearing charging a man for using his cell phone while operating a vehicle—his horse. The man pleaded guilty, conceding that “the horse was in motion” at the time, but no criminal conviction was recorded.


“We cannot bring you toilet paper.”

A Facebook post from the Newport, Ore., police department explaining that running out of toilet paper is not an emergency and offering creative suggestions for toilet paper substitutes.


“Bank officials told officers that the chicken . . . failed to engage in proper social distancing.”

The Walker, La., police department in a comical “be on lookout” notice regarding an “aggressive chicken” that was chasing customers at a local bank and attempting to get into their cars.
