What motto do you live by?

August 2024

For years, my motto has been, “Not all those who wander are lost,” by J.R.R. Tolkien speaking through the character of Gandalf. It reminds me that life is a journey of exploration and that maintaining curiosity, a willingness to learn, and grit will lead me to where I need to be.

Eric Young, Young Law Group, Santa Rosa, CA

“Pay attention to the small details.”

Chris O’Brien, O’Brien & Ford, Buffalo, NY

“It will all be OK.” My friend got me a beautiful picture of this quote that I hung in my office. It’s a great reminder to keep things in perspective.

Whitney J. Butcher, Ketterer, Browne & Associates, Raleigh, NC

“In times like these, it helps to remember that there were always times like these.”

Nelson Boyle, The Paul Wilkinson Law Firm, Denver, CO

“Perception is everything.” How you choose to see the world is the single most important part of being able to handle life’s ups and downs. I choose to be grateful for all parts of life, including the challenges and the lessons I’ve learned from them.

Kristina Aiad-Toss, Singleton Schreiber, San Diego, CA

“He conquers who endures.” I can’t remember where I first heard it, but it’s a useful mantra that gets me through busy days. That and “one more coffee won’t hurt!”

Daniel Matchett, Irwin Mitchell, Manchester, UK
