Pedestrian struck in marked crosswalk

Doe, 83, had the right of way and was walking through a crosswalk in Arlington, Va. Roe’s vehicle allegedly struck Doe while turning, dragging her under the front bumper for approximately 70 feet. Doe suffered a scalp injury to the left side of her head and a degloving injury to her right hand. She also suffered multiple fractures and lost consciousness. She was hospitalized and underwent plastic surgery procedures. Doe, who now has a bald spot, incurred medical bills totaling approximately $580,000.

A lawsuit arising out of the incident settled for $500,000.
