Stephen J. Herman is a partner with Herman, Herman & Katz, LLC, an AAJ Leaders Forum member, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a past president of the Louisiana Association for Justice, a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, a Trial Lawyers for Public Justice (TLPJ) Finalist for Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2005, a member of AAJ’s National College of Advocacy Board of Trustees, and he serves on AAJ’s Board of Governors. The author of America and the Law: Challenges for the 21st Century, Mr. Herman teaches an advanced torts seminar on class actions at Loyola Law School and an advanced civil procedure course in complex litigation at Tulane. Mr. Herman served for six years as a lawyer chair for one of the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board (LADB) Hearing committees and currently serves on the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) Rules of Professional Conduct Committee. For the past seven years, Mr. Herman has served as co-liaison/co-lead class counsel for plaintiffs in the BP Oil Spill/Deepwater Horizon litigation. Mr. Herman is a generous AAJ PAC Eagle donor, and he has received Fellow status in the NCA Masters of Trial Law professional recognition program.
