Jon Barrett, M.D.
Jon Barrett, M.D. is a specialist in maternal fetal medicine (MFM) from Toronto, Canada. He is currently based the Head of MFM at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre Hospital and is a professor at the University of Toronto and an elected Fellow of the Royal College. He is the Program Research Director of the Women and Babies Program at the Hospital and has recently been appointed a World Health Organization (WHO) advisor on maternal health. He is a member of the Board of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC) and the International Society of Twin Research. He is the founder and Chair of the Greater Toronto Area Obstetric Network – (GTA – OBS) and has over 40 peer reviewed publications. He has been awarded many Prizes including Best Paper - Oral plenary Session at the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) annual meeting, 2012; the Excellence in Research award from the Association of Professors of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (APOG) and the Making a Difference Award, Multiple Birth Canada.
David Barton, M.D.
David Barton, M.D., graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2006 before completing his first two years of basic medical training at Beaumont hospital. He then moved to Boston where he completed his internal medicine residency at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in addition to completing his American Boards of Internal Medicine. He then returned to Ireland where he completed a clinical research fellowship in cardiology at St. Vincent’s and St. Michaels hospitals. Dr. Barton then returned to the United States, this time to the University of Nebraska in Omaha, where he completed his general cardiology fellowship in addition to his American board examination in general cardiology. While at the University of Nebraska, Dr. Barton achieved level 2 accreditation in heart failure, advanced heart failure therapies and transplantation, echocardiography, advanced imaging in addition to Level 3 accreditation in cardiac catheterization. He remains an adjunctive assistant professor of medicine in cardiology at the University of Nebraska. Dr. Barton’s areas of clinical interest and expertise lie in coronary artery disease including complex coronary interventions and structural heart disease specifically transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and Mitraclip.
John Beer is a Dutch attorney with BeerAdvocaten Liability and Personal Injury firm. He is the current Pan European Organization of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL) president. He graduated from the University of Amsterdam in 1976 and was admitted to the bar in 1977. In March 2018, Mr. Beer was awarded the Dekenprijs award from the Amsterdam Bar Association. In 2017, Mr. Beer was made an officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and serves on the Board of Governors. From 2011-2013, Mr. Beer served as co-chair on the AAJ International Practice Section. Mr. Beer is located in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Joseph P. Cullen, M.D.
Joseph P. Cullan, M.D. was admitted to practice law in 2000 and began working with his father Daniel B. Cullan, M.D., J.D., one of the first physician/trial lawyers in the country to specialize in representing catastrophically injured children. Dr. Joseph Cullan is licensed to practice Law in California, Arizona, and Nebraska. He is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), Nebraska Association of Trial Attorneys, and the AAJ Birth Trauma Litigation Group. Dr. Cullan has also studied, trained, and graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. He has performed medical internships in the United States, Ireland, and Argentina. Bryan Doherty, M.D.
Bryan Doherty, M.D. is a fellowship-trained physician specializing in non-invasive cardiology. Dr. Doherty was born in Canada and grew up in Ireland. He attended medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin. Dr. Doherty completed his residency and a chief residency at St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center, in New York City. He recently completed a cardiovascular disease fellowship with the Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute in New York City. Doherty is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. As a non-invasive cardiologist who is board certified in both internal medicine and cardiology, Dr. Doherty provides a greater focus on the diagnostic side of cardiac care. He holds certifications in Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac CT and Vascular Ultrasound.

Emily Egan is a practicing barrister. Emily studied law in Trinity College Dublin, graduated in 1991 and obtained a Post Graduate Degree (BCL) at Oxford University. She was called to the Bar in 1994 and was appointed Senior Counsel by the Government in 2010. In the course of over 20 years’ experience as a trial lawyer, Emily has gained extensive experience in many areas of law. Her specialist interests lie in the areas of healthcare and medical law, administrative, constitutional and regulatory law. Emily assists and advises a wide range of statutory bodies in both contentious and non-contentious matters. Emily also acts as Legal Assessor to the Medical Council, the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (the Pharmacy Regulator), the Dental Council and the Teaching Council in Fitness to Practice enquiries into complaints of professional misconduct. Emily has been a CEDR Accredited Mediator since 2008. She acts as both Mediator and Arbitrator in the settlement of a broad range of disputes.
Max E. Freeman
Max E. Freeman is a trial lawyer, representing individuals in major litigation throughout the United States, in the areas of catastrophic injury, birth injury, malpractice and general civil litigation. Mr. Freeman is a frequent author and lecturer. He is “AV” rated by Martindale Hubble and has been repeatedly named in Best Lawyers in America, National Trial Lawyers, Top 100 Trial Lawyers, and Texas Super Lawyer. Professor Paul Govaert, M.D. Is the head of pediatrics at Koningin Paola Children’s Hospital located in Antwerp Area, Belgium.
Professor Jane Hutton, M.D.
Professor Jane Hutton, M.D. has major collaborations in cerebral palsy and epilepsy. In epilepsy, she has contributed to many Cochrane reviews of anti-epileptic drugs. Dr. Hutton's research has had impact through clinical guidelines and in legal cases. Her work in epilepsy is cited in the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) and World Health Organization Guidance. Dr. Hutton is a professor at The University of Warwick, located in Coventry, England. Professor Hutton is a non-executive director and trustee of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS). She is the Royal Statistical Society coordinator for a partnership between the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) and the Royal Statistical Society (RSS). She has taught at AIMS South Africa, AIMS Ghana and AIMS Tanzania.
Bruce Janiak, M.D.
Bruce Janiak, M.D. specializes in emergency medicine with over 46 years in practice. Dr. Janiak currently serves as Professor and Vice Chairman of Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG). He is Board certified in Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. He served as past president of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). Dr. Janiak founder and past president of the Emergency Department Benchmarking Alliance (EDBA) which supports the people who manage emergency departments across the country. Michael P. Koskoff
Michael P. Koskoff focuses on handling major personal injury, medical malpractice, civil rights, and product liability cases. He is a past president of the Connecticut chapter of The American Board of Trial Advocates and Connecticut’s only member of The Inner Circle of Advocates. Mr. Koskoff is a member of The American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Society of Barristers, and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He is a recipient of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Lifetime Achievement Award, the Dedicated Service Award of the National Association of Black Patrolmen, the Waverly Jones Freedom Award of the Greater Bridgeport NAACP, and the Dedicated Service Award of the Afro-American Educators Association. He has served as a member of the Advisory Board of the Quinnipiac College School of Law and for many years was appointed by the United States District Court in Connecticut as cochair of the Special Masters Program. In addition to his legal training, Mr. Koskoff has received formal training as an actor, from the American Shakespeare Academy. He is also admitted to the United States District Courts for Connecticut and the Southern District of New York, as well as the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Koskoff and his son, Jacob, wrote the screenplay for Marshall, a major motion picture released on October 13, 2017. Matthew R. Laird
Matthew R. Laird practice focuses in medical malpractice and personal injury law. Mr. Laird graduated from De Paul University, College of Law. He previously worked as a military defense appellate attorney as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Mr. Laird also served as a military prosecutor and as an assistant Colorado Public Defender. He is a member of the American Association for Justice’s (AAJ) New Lawyer Division and Publications Committee. Jennifer L. Lawrence
Jennifer L. Lawrence is a partner of The Lawrence Firm, PSC, in Covington, Kentucky. Ms. Lawrence practices law with a particular focus on product liability, mass torts and medical malpractice. Ms. Lawrence has concentrated her practice representing clients and their families injured as a result of defective medical devices, dangerous drugs and medical and hospital negligence. She is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Ohio, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky. Ms. Lawrence is a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Northern Kentucky Bar Association, the Kentucky Justice Association, serving as a District Vice President and a member of the Ohio Association for Justice. Brian J. McKeen
Brian J. McKeen concentrates his practice in medical negligence litigation. He is on the executive board of the Michigan Association for Justice and is a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates and the International Society of Primerus. Mr. McKeen was named one of Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s Lawyers of the Year, listed as a Top Attorney in Michigan, Michigan Super Lawyers, and included in the Top 100 Michigan Super Lawyers. He is a Sustaining Member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and serves on AAJ’s Board of Governors. Thomas P. Naidich, M.D.
Thomas P. Naidich, M.D. joined the faculty at Mount Sinai in 1998. He is presently the vice-chair of Radiology for Academic Affairs, and the Irving and Dorothy Regenstreif Research Professor of Neurosciences (Neuroimaging) as well as the Director of the Neuroradiology Fellowship Training Program. Before going to Mount Sinai, Dr. Naidich held academic appointments at New York University School of Medicine (1973-1975), Albert Einstein College of Medicine (1975-1977), Washington University School of Medicine (1978-1980), Northwestern University Medical School (1982-1988) and the University of Miami School of Medicine (1988-1998). He was awarded the Best Doctor in America (Neuroradiology) in 1994, Who’s Who in the World in 2002, the Group Award for Outstanding Teaching to the Neuroradiology and Neurointerventional Faculty in 2010 and Honorary Founding Member for the Russian Society of Neuroradiology. Having published extensively, Dr. Naidich has held many editorial positions and presently is on the Editorial Board of Neuroradiology. He also reviews Neuroradiology for Brain, Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, Radiology and American Journal of Neuroradiology.
Kathleen L. Nastri
Kathleen L. Nastri concentrates her practice in medical malpractice, personal injury, and other complex cases. She is a past president of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers' Association (CTLA) and is the current President of the American Association for Justice (AAJ). Ms. Nastri serves on AAJ’s Board of Governors and PAC Board of Trustees, is a member of the Professional Negligence Section, and donates to AAJ PAC. Before joining Koskoff Koskoff & Bieder, PC, she had been head of the Plaintiff's Personal Injury Practice Group at a Waterbury-based law firm, where she began assisting clients in 1986. Gerry O'Donoghue, M.D.
Gerry O’Donoghue, M.D. is a consultant surgeon in Waterford, Ireland with a special interest in breast cancer including breast conserving surgery and reconstruction techniques. He attended the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and graduated with an honors degree in 1999. He was awarded a Doctor of Medicine by his alma mater in 2005 for his research into Breast Cancer treatment. While undertaking a surgical oncology fellowship at the Royal Melbourne and Royal Women’s Hospitals in Australia, he gained specialist expertise in breast, thyroid and melanoma surgeries. Dr. O’Donoghue is currently the Lead Breast Cancer Surgeon at the Waterford University Hospital South Eastern Cancer Centre.

He is a past president of the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association (DTLA) and has been a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association Board of Directors since 1990.
