About the Seminar:

Faculty will dissect common defenses related to brachial plexus injuries and identify best practices for approaching cases involving shoulder dystocia and related injuries. Topics to be addressed during this intensive program include the science behind these injuries, risk factors, maneuvers, the role traction plays in injuries, and informed consent.

Kenneth M. Levine

Kenneth M. Levine concentrates his practice in birth injury, medical negligence, hospital negligence, product liability, and premises liability litigation.  Mr. Levine has authored several articles concerning medical malpractice and trial practice issues which have been published in both legal and medical journals.  He is a member of the Boston Inn of Court, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American College of Legal Medicine, the American Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics, the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.  He is a member of AAJ’s Birth Trauma Litigation Group.  Mr. Levine is the founder of Kenneth M. Levine & Associates, located in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Pamela E. Pantages

Pamela E. Pantages has more than 27 years of experience as a trial attorney. Having earned a master’s degree in speech pathology/audiology, she successfully pursued a medical career before going to law school. Her current law practice includes all areas of medical negligence, but with particular expertise in obstetric and pediatric malpractice. Board Certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, Ms. Pantages is also a member of the Melvin M. Belli Society and the International Society of Barristers. She is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Ms. Pantages is a sought-after speaker on birth injury litigation for the American Association for Justice (AAJ) at the national level and for the Ohio Association for Justice, among other organizations. Ms. Pantages has also published brachial plexus articles, including an article co-authored with Leslie Iffy, M.D. titled Erb’s Palsy After Delivery by Cesarean Section (A Medico-Legal Key to a Vexing Problem) in the journal Medicine and Law, 2005 Dec; 24(4):655-61. Throughout her career, she has advocated for children and their families in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Illinois, Virginia, Delaware, Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia. Ms. Pantages is an attorney with Nurenberg, Paris, Heller & McCarthy, LPA located in Cleveland, Ohio.

Robert J. Talaska

Robert J. Talaska has focused his legal career on birth injury cases for over two decades and is a nationally recognized birth injury medical negligence expert. Mr. Talaska takes a special interest in helping injured children. For over 20 years, he has limited his practice to the area of birth injury and birth trauma medical negligence cases and has developed the expertise, knowledge, and resources to ensure that children and their families have strong legal representation in difficult and demanding birth injury cases. Mr. Talaska has had notable success at trial, representing children who have cerebral palsy as well as brachial plexus injuries. Mr. Talaska is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell, a Texas Super Lawyer and an associate of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has also been named Texas Lawyers’ 40 Under 40. Mr. Talaska is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), a frequent lecturer for AAJ’s Birth Trauma Litigation Group seminars, former national secretary of AAJ’s Professional Negligence Section and fellowship member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Talaska is the owner of The Talaska Law Firm located in Houston, Texas.

Charles J. Zauzig, III

Charles J. Zauzig, III, course advisor concentrates his practice on medical malpractice litigation.  Mr. Zauzig is an avid student and teacher of critical thinking as it applies to the strategies of case development and communication to juries, and he teaches nationwide. Mr. Zauzig is a past president of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. He is an active member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), where he has served in several leadership positions, including on the National College of Advocacy (NCA) Board of Trustees, the Board of Governors, and as co-chair of the Medical Information Exchange Litigation Group (MNIEG). He is an AAJ PAC Eagle donor and is a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has been listed as a Super Lawyer, included in Best Lawyers in America, named as best medical malpractice lawyer in the District of Columbia Greater Metropolitan Region, named as one of Washington’s Best Lawyers in Personal Injury by Washingtonian Magazine, is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell, was awarded the Professor W.
