The CDC reports that 91 Americans die each day from opioid overdose. Opioids are highly addictive prescription drugs used for pain relief.
A wide variety of organizations, including distributors and manufactures, need to be held accountable for the current health epidemic. Wholesale distributors violated federal law by failing to report suspicious orders while over prescribing communities with addictive pain killers. The manufacturers violated state and federal law through off label use, unlawful marketing, fraud, and violations of various unfair trade practices.
Case have been filed in Louisiana, Mississippi, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, New York, California and Washington. It is expected numerous new cases will be filed in the next year.
