Stroke is currently the number one cause of long-term disability and the number four cause of death in the United States. On average, a stroke occurs every 40 seconds, and the incident of stroke is projected to increase dramatically. Moreover, the costs of stroke care are projected to double by 2020. Despite recent innovations that have been shown to dramatically improve the outcome after acute stroke, 25 percent of stroke victims still do not receive the medical care they need.
The AAJ Stroke Litigation Group assists AAJ members handling stroke cases. The group helps members better recognize the cause of and damage resulting from strokes as well as identify the appropriate treatment for different kinds of strokes. The Stroke Litigation Group member benefits include a Group Document Library, list server, and meetings and education programs.
This Litigation Group was formed in October 2013.
