Howard Twiggs Award

Casey Johnson is compassionate, caring, and focused on success—for his clients and for the plaintiff trial bar. He wants lawyers to have access to the resources that will enable them to be the best trial lawyers they can be, and he works to make sure that AAJ is the best trial lawyer organization that it can be.
One of the ways he strengthens AAJ is by participating in membership drives. He knows how critical membership is to sustain a strong association. His dedication to AAJ’s mission and work ethic are exemplary. He is a doer and natural leader.
Casey has already served as president of three other bar associations and will soon be President-Elect of the Consumer Attorneys of California. He has impeccably high standards, and his courtroom advocacy is formidable.
Casey has achieved notable success representing the elderly, and he's also dogged in the pursuit of justice against insurance companies that do not operate in good faith.

Howard Twiggs
Howard spent more than 50 years seeking justice for injury victims and others who suffered injustice. He was a selfless and tireless worker, who always put the welfare of his client and AAJ ahead of any personal glory or satisfaction, and was involved in many professional and philanthropic groups, including the North Carolina Advocates for Justice and the Roscoe Pound Foundation. Mr. Twiggs served as President of AAJ and also served in the North Carolina state legislature from 1966-1974. AAJ is honored to present an annual award named in his honor.
