Linda Latest Updates from AAJ on COVID-19

Message from LInda Lipsen, AAJ CEO
Updated March 20, 2020

Dear AAJ Members,

I hope you are safe and taking precautions to protect yourselves, your families, colleagues, and clients. At AAJ, while we are in telework mode, we continue to focus on our three pillars that make AAJ the association for trial lawyers: education, advocacy, and community. I have highlights for you on each, below.

AAJ is closely monitoring all coronavirus-related and economic stimulus legislation to ensure that they do not contain provisions that would provide broad immunity for corporate interests and industries (beyond the scope of COVID-19) or would prevent you from keeping your cases in state court. AAJ beat back manufacturer requests for broad immunity. Please read our update on what, as of this writing, has passed Congress thus far.

We know many of you rely on AAJ Education seminars and colleges for your continuing legal education. We want to continue to provide you with access to faculty members and programs to support you and your practice when you need it most.

To that end, we are converting many of our programs over the next few months to webcast format, and plan to add several webinars to our roster each month. As an example, our Trucking and Auto Jazz Fest Seminar will be offered via webcast on April 23-24. This seminar will feature the same highly skilled speakers and innovative content as the live seminar. We will continue to do rapid response webinars to help you navigate these uncertain times.

We are mindful of the difficulties you and your clients are facing. We are following discussions on AAJ’s list servers about court closures and delays that will impact your practice and your clients.

We will soon roll out additional resources and practice area packages at reduce rates so that you can have access to a selection of CLE speaker papers, practice area resources, and Litigation Packets.

Final Notes
We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 outbreak and will provide updates about upcoming events on the AAJ website.

We are in this together. We will be here for you, as you have been here for us. Please stay safe. And contact us if you have questions or concerns.

Best Regards,

Linda Lipsen
