AAJ Statement Opposing So-Called “KIDS Act”
Legislation Would Prioritize Big Tech and Leave Children Unprotected
March 04,2026WASHINGTON, DC—American Association for Justice CEO Linda Lipsen issued the following statement in advance of the House Energy and Commerce Committee markup of H.R. 7757, the KIDS Act, and H.R. 6291, the Children and Teen’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
“At this moment, parents who have lost their children are standing up to Big Tech and finally seeing their fight for justice move forward. At a time when real transparency and protections are most needed, House lawmakers are choosing to advance legislation that would gut access to justice for families and school districts and make our children less safe.
“These bills would weaken safeguards for kids, wipe out pending cases, and leave devastated families with no recourse. America’s children deserve real protections—not a watered-down handout to Big Tech.”
